ExpertFExpertF Info 01.04.2018

Hello, dear reader. I am the ExpertF.

Today I will talk about bullet-proof vests. To make up this idea, I think it is necessary to note that the list of countries producing bullet-proof vests is very large and each country has its standardization score. Speaking about the standardization score, I understand one or another degree of armor protection, which depends on a number of factors: the armor material, the type of weapon, the type of bullet, the range of vulnerability of the tested armor, weather conditions and a number of other factors. Typically, in the characteristics of bullet-proof vests, found in the literature, several parameters are noted, which enable the specialists to make up the concept of armor. In the world, the most common and accepted distribution of bullet-proof vests is according to the standards of four countries:
1. The NIJ – standard of the US National Institute of Justice,
2. CEN – common European standard,
3. DIN – standard of the police department of the Federal Republic of Germany,
4. GOST R 50744-95 /2014 – the standard of the research institute of standardization of the standard of the Russian Federation with changes made in 2014.
In order to make it more clear, I considered it necessary to present below the following table, in which the comparison of the bullet-proof vests of the above standards:

NIJ CEN DIN ГОСТ Р 50744-95
BR 1 L 1
II-IIIA BR 2, BR3 I 2
SG 1, SG 2 II 2a
BR 4 II 3
III BR 5 III 4
BR 6 5
IV BR 7 IV 6
